Today will be a half day of school for all students here at Kenneth Henderson; school will dismiss at 11:10 a.m.! I have attached our half day schedule for your convenience!

There will be no school tomorrow, February 16th due to a Teacher Workday! Enjoy your long weekend!

Remember to collect Box Tops for Education and put them in our drop box located in the front foyer.  Also, there is a sweepstakes you can enter once each day at “I Love My School.” Support our PRIDE Side rewards parties!

Our Parent Teacher Conferences will be held next week! Dates and times are listed below:

  • Wednesday, February 21st:
    • 3:30 p.m. until 6:50 p.m.
  • Thursday, February 22nd (No School):
    • 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday, February 23rd (No School):
    • 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.

The Book Fair will be held the week of February 19th through February 22rd during the school day and during Parent Teacher Conferences! Stop by and check it out!

Parents, if you have had a change in address or a new phone number that we do not have on file, please contact our office to get this information updated! It is extremely important that we have the correct information on file!

7th and 8th grade students are currently participating in All Stars Core. It is being offered in Mentoring classes during first period. One lesson a week is being taught on Wednesdays and Thursdays, which will end on April 19th. All Stars Core is an opportunity for your child to plan a future for themselves in ways they haven't before. They will think about what they want and don't want in their future and how risky behaviors such as drinking alcohol, using tobacco, and fighting will affect their future. You should have already helped your child complete the Forward to the Future worksheet. You can expect two more conversational assignments to come home during the weeks of February 21st and March 8th. We encourage you to mark the dates on your calendar and proactively approach your child to complete them. Please see the  parent letter for more information.

Kenneth Henderson will host a Papa John’s Pizza Day on Monday, February 26th! On this day, if you order from Papa John’s, mention that you are ordering to support Kenneth Henderson Middle School and 10% of all proceeds will be given back to our building. We greatly appreciate your support!

Now through Friday, February 23, 2018, Kenneth Henderson Middle School will be participating in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Pennies for Patients program – a service-learning program that gives students the unique experience of working together to help raise awareness and funds in honor of thousands of children and adults fighting against blood cancers!  Students are competing by mentoring class. Mentoring classes will be partnered up with another mentoring class, and the pair of classes that raises the most money, will win a pizza party. Students, parents, and staff members can donate coins, cash, or checks! Remember to help save lives by looking for change!

Our third quarter Pride Side cut-off date is on Wednesday, March 21st!

Kenneth Henderson Middle School will host a Career Fair on Thursday, March 29th, 2018, that will last from 8:15 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. This day will be split into three, forty-five minute sessions. We are currently in search of speakers for this event. Attached you will find a Career Fair Description Form for you to complete if you (or someone you know) are willing to present to our students about your career. Also attached to this email are Career Day Speaker Suggestions, which consists of questions to help you in preparing your presentation to our students. Please return the Career Fair Description Form by typing in your responses and emailing it back to Breann Dennis, at bdennis@gckschools.com. Sending us this document will confirm your participation in our Career Fair. Once we receive your participation confirmation, we will contact you with further details of the events. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Kellie Pitts at (620) 805-8509 or Breann Dennis at (620) 805-8508.
